Renewed In My Twenties Series

See Verse: Proverbs 3:5 -7 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.”

Before we begin, I’d like to dedicate this article to a great friend of mine. Thank you Candace for all of the prayers and counseling through this journey. I love you and may God continue to bless you abundantly.

Hey friend,

Can we talk about trusting God in a new way? Building a relationship with Christ is challenging, and fully trusting in Him can be even harder. Have you ever found yourself responding to a situation based on what you think you know, more often than you’d like?

For example, let’s say you plan to meet a friend. You’re familiar with the area, but you still rely on GPS for guidance. Even though Siri gives you one direction, you decide to go a different way—and end up getting lost. While you’re focused on what you think you know, Siri is trying to reroute you out of the situation.

Have you ever thought about how this relates to Christ? We often get so caught up in our own plans and understanding that we can unintentionally interrupt the work God has already begun. He may be leading us in one direction, but we go the other way, perhaps because we think it’s quicker or easier. Then, we end up needing to be rerouted or find ourselves lost, in the wrong place, or taking longer to reach the destination God had planned for us.

Reflection: Take a moment to reflect on times when you’ve acted based on your own understanding rather than trusting in the Lord. Where did that lead you? Did you ever feel lost in the process? And how can you begin to trust God more fully based on the experiences you’ve been through?

Prayer: Lord, thank You for this new trust that You have created in me. Guide me on the journey You have for me and navigate my walk in the order You have planned. Help me not lean on my own understanding, but whole-heartedly trust in You, Father.

Amen.
