Renewed In My Twenties Series

See Verse: 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 and 1 Corinthians 3: 17

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 NKJV “Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the holy spirit who is in you, who you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and your spirit, which are God’s.

Hey friend,

We all face temptations that knock at our door, urging us to give in. Whether it’s struggling with sexual temptation, overeating, or not getting enough rest, we each have our battles. But God reminds us that our bodies are not our own. They are the temples where the Holy Spirit dwells. When we let the flesh take over, we start to distance ourselves from the Spirit.

After having my son, I went through a season where I wasn’t taking care of my body like I should have. I developed unhealthy eating habits that I had never struggled with before. I stopped exercising and stopped focusing on my personal growth. I just let my body “go.” Ultimately, this led to my spirit feeling low. It wasn’t until I began praying and asking God to show me what it truly looks like to take care of myself again that things started to shift. I prayed for Him to reveal the changes I needed to make—both on the scale and physically. From that point forward, I made it my purpose to allow God to transform me, beginning with my heart, then my mind, and ultimately my body.

In 1 Corinthians 3:17 (NKJV), Paul says, “If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.” To defile the temple of God is to corrupt or pollute it. So, we must be mindful of how we treat our bodies. We are precious creations of God, and we should carry ourselves with love and respect for the temple He has given us.

Reflection: When was the last time you truly took care of the temple your spirit resides in?

Prayer: Lord, thank You for the body You’ve blessed me with, where Your Holy Spirit resides. Teach me to honor and care for my body in the way You desire. I no longer want to fall into temptation or unhealthy habits. Strengthen me to feed my temple with righteous choices, so that my spirit can grow closer to Yours, and I can draw others nearer to You.

Amen.

Special Note: Thank you for allowing me to share my personal journey as I transition into my late twenties. Ladies, this decade is one to embrace—it’s a time to learn, grow, and discover more about yourself than ever before. You’ll face challenges, and yes, mistakes will happen. But remember, it’s not the mistakes that define you; it’s how you rise, learn, and keep moving forward.

Keep shining brightly, just as God has called you to. This is your time to renew, refresh, and step into the woman you’re becoming. Here’s to the growth ahead and all the beautiful transformations yet to come!
