Last year, my life completely changed. After graduating, having a baby, and moving into a new home, I knew I needed to change. Life became more hectic than it was before. I struggled to find balance, make myself a priority, and create a manageable routine. 

This year I decided to do things differently. I set out small habits that would help me to move toward my bigger goals set out for this year. 

Diamond why small habits? Glad you asked! Creating micro habits will help you to perform more throughout the days or weeks that you set them. Smaller habits allow you to make them a ritual without the temptation of giving up. They don’t feel so much of a task, just a habit. 

It is easier to celebrate small habits because of how achievable they are. Just think of how much you can celebrate within a year by making one small habit a day. That’s 365 habits you’ve made in a year. 

Now, I don’t want you to think you are taking this step alone. You’re in the right place if you don’t know where to start.

Here are 10 Habits for Success in 2023:

  1. Wake up earlier. This could mean waking up an hour earlier than usual or joining that 5am club. Whichever one works for you, but just make sure you choose what works for you and stick to it. 
  2. Set your goals. Begin writing monthly goals for yourself. Follow these habits to help you execute your goals. 
  3. Organize your space. Clutter is our worse friend. Many times, it can be hard to focus when your space is not together. Find time to declutter and organize room by room, corner by corner. 
  4. Learn something new. Make it a habit to learn a new skill. You never know what you may be good at or enjoy. Never stop the process of learning. 
  5. Manage your time. Create a planner, set reminders, do whatever it takes to manage your time and your task. Have you ever heard of the saying “if it’s not in my calendar, it won’t get done?” Well, it’s true. So, write it down.
  6. Journal. Take about 5-15 minutes a day dedicated to writing out your thoughts, ideas, or feelings. 
  7. Meditate. Find some quiet time to just breathe and center yourself. Between work, kids, and social life, things can get hectic. Give yourself a moment to slow it all down and gather yourself. 
  8. Get rest. This one can be hard but is important. Find the time to rest and if you have a little extra time then take it. Resting allows us to refresh, rejuvenate and revitalize. 
  9. Exercise. Along with building a healthier lifestyle, physical activity helps you to perform more daily activities and tasks. 
  10. Healthier eating. Pay more mind to what you are putting into your body. Mind you, this is not dieting, just making some lifestyle changes.
